POWER

"Elijah was a man with a nature like ours [with the same physical, mental, and spiritual limitations and shortcomings], and he prayed [d]intensely for it not to rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months." (James 5:17)

In my devotional time with the Lord this morning, I felt a deep burning desire in my spirit to see ALL CHRISTIANS, walking in POWER. If you are a Christian and don't have this longing in your heart, I really encourage you to pray and ask God for it. What it means to be a Christian for me is to fully reflect CHRIST. His nature and character, and POWER. What 'kind' of power am I talking about here? Let's take a look at Acts 1:18.

"But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:18)

It is the POWER of the Holy Spirit. POWER that we will receive when the Holy Spirit COMES upon us. How come not all Christians today walk in power? Because not all Christians receive and embrace the Holy Spirit.

So, how do receive this POWER that comes from the HOLY SPIRIT?

1. "For everyone who [h]keeps on asking[persistently], receives..." (Luke 11:10)

ASK, not just once, but PERSISTENTLYand you will RECEIVE

2. "If you, then, being evil [that is, sinful by nature], know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!” (Luke 11:13)

ASK to our heavenly FATHER, He knows how to give what you ask from Him and wants you to RECEIVE. It is in His nature to give!!!

3. "Jesus replied, “Have faith in God [constantly]. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and [f]does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will]. For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you. (Mark 11:22-24)

ASK by SAYING IT and do NOT doubt in your heart, but BELIEVE.

All those things are what I called a POSITION to RECEIVE. We need to be in a position of receiving. See yourself as a RECIPIENT. What a recipient does? Receive. God wants YOU to receive from Him! Because He is our Father and He wants to give good gifts to us as His children!
